The US Food and Drug administration (FDA) recently required manufacturers of all medications belonging to the class of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors to revise their labels by adding a warning - these drugs may potentially cause sudden hearing loss. Among the medications affected by this warning are the popularly prescribed sexual impotence drugs Viagra (sildenafil), Cialis (tadalafil) and Levitra (vardenafil) as well as others with similar ingredients, including a drug for pulmonary hypertension.
